Clinical Supervision & Training
Clinical work can be challenging and isolating at times. If you are a practicing mental health professional working with difficult cases that have you “stuck” or interested in working with patients using different theoretical approaches and/or techniques, then supervision may be something of importance to you. Dr. Bhatia works mostly from a psychodynamic and CBT perspective. He has experience supervising many psychological conditions including depression, anxiety, and personality difficulties within these models.
If you are a practicing psychotherapist looking to for supervision, consultation, or training in working within a specific modality, please send us an email to discuss your specific needs.
Affect Phobia Therapy
Over the last eight years, Dr. Bhatia has conducted psychotherapy research and training in Affect Phobia Therapy. Affect Phobia Therapy is an evidence based model of short-term psychodynamic therapy. Dr. Bhatia is the only certified APT teacher, trainer, and supervisor in Canada. He provides training and supervision in the APT model and helps clinicians:
- identify patient defences and negative coping patterns;
- work with patient emotions by teaching clinicians specific techniques they can incorporate in order to guide patients to explore and express these blocked feelings; and
- provide clinicians with techniques on how patients can cultivate self-compassion and compassion for others.
We are currently working on building core training and workshop opportunities for Canada. For more information on APT and the services available, please go to www.affectphobiatherapy.com. If you are interested in receiving training or supervision in the model, or your institution would like a half-day or full-day workshop on APT, please contact Dr. Bhatia.
